श्रीड्ण्टीऴ VISIT

Jonathan visits Yar’adua

L-R: Wife of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua, Hajia Turai; President Goodluck Jonathan; Mima Yar‘Adua, Governor Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State; and First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, during the President’s condolence visit to the Yar’Adua’s family, in Katsina… on Saturday

President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday visited the family of the late Umaru Yar‘Adua in Katsina, pledging to continue to implement his predecessor‘s policies and programmes.

Accomplishing this, Jonathan said, would be the greatest respect his administration would give in memory of Yar‘Adua who died in the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday night.

Jonathan who was dressed in light chocolate kaftan and flowing babariga with a dark brown cap, arrived at the Katsina International Airport at about 10:56 am aboard a Nigerian Air Force Presidential jet marked 5N-FGS in company with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed; Senate President, David Mark, the governors of Delta (Emmanuel Uduaghan), Lagos (Babatunde Fashola), Kwara (Bukola Saraki) and Zamfara (Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi).

Also on the president‘s entourage were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Odein Ajumogobia and Nigeria‘s High Commissioner to South Africa, Buba Marwa as well as other top government functionaries.

Security was, however, tight from the airport to the family home of the late president even as it took some time before Jonathan‘s heavily guarded sleek black Mercedes Benz pulled up outside the Yar’Adua’s house.

Jonathan attended the third day prayer session led by the Chief Imam of Katsina Central Mosque, Liman Aliyu Abba, and Liman Ibrahim Sabiu Jibia of Jibia Jumat Mosque from 11.28 to 11.45 am.

The president who was received into the Yar‘Adua family house amid the outpouring of emotions and shedding of tears by sympathizers told the mother of the late president, Hajia Dada, that the sudden death of her son had left him traumatised.

He described the late president as a patriot and a man of honour, respect, and humility.

The president told Hajia Dada who was shedding tears profusely and the former First Lady, Hajia Turai, that the contributions of Yar‘Adua to the nation‘s socio-economic development would remain indelible on the sands of time.

Jonathan and his wife, Patience, who had earlier arrived at the Yar‘Adua family home met with Turai and her children in a room where they also met former first ladies, including Mrs. Ajoke Murtala Muhammad, Hajiya Maryam Abacha and Justice Fatima Abdulsalami Abubakar.

Signing the condolence register, Jonathan wrote, ”It is sad to express my feelings over the death of my boss, my brother, my friend who asked me to join him to run the affairs of this country will leave me behind at this time. I lack words to express my personal feelings, God knows. May his soul rest in peace.”

Thousands of mourners who had besieged the Yar‘Adua family house for the third prayer hailed the visiting president who was dressed in pink traditional Hausa attire and donning a cap.

The prayer session was led by the Chief Imam of Jibiya Mosque, Mallam Ibrahim Sabiu.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Yayale Ahmed, also offered prayers on behalf of President Jonathan while commiserating with Yar‘Adua‘s mother in the inner room.

Later at the palace of the Emir of Katsina, Jonathan said he enjoyed good working relationship with his late predecessor.

Responding, the Emir, Alhaji Abdul Muminu Kabir Usman, thanked the president for the visit and advised him to carry every part of the country along in his administration of the affairs of the country.

* Sir Jonathan, don’t listen to that ex–convict OBJ. I hope u saw how ur late boss obeyed and respected the judiciary? Don’t allow OBJ to spoil ur government as he did during his own tenure. Becos, there is no difference between OBJ and Babaginda. No ex–soldier should be allowed to be the civilian President of this great country. Military life and political life experiences are two different institutions entirely .

* Beware Mr. President!!, it is easy to derail from the genuin plan you have asked God to give you in order to heal this Nation as we have seen of few past leaders. The cabals are still very much around and will try to cause you pains and difficulties. Don’t go witch hunting but rely solely on God to help and deliver you from the cabals...the Lord will be your PILLER and STRENGHT...AMEN and best of LUCK...
